FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. – An active shooter drill will take place at Fairchild Air Force Base on Thursday.
The response exercise will include first responders and law enforcement using sirens, driving quickly and yelling, which could be mistaken as an active emergency.
Regular base operations will not be disrupted, and the Exchange and Commissary will remain open.
Fairchild offered more details on why the drill is necessary for base readiness.
“The goal of the exercise is to provide emergency response training for units across the installation in the unlikely event an active shooter incident occurs,” a Fairchild statement said.
