SPOKANE, Wash. — A man is dead and family members confirmed three others, including two children, are in a coma following a house fire in Spokane’s West Central Neighborhood on Saturday.

Around 4:10 a.m. on April 20, the Spokane Fire Department responded to the 1700 block of Howard for a porch fire. Crews arrived and saw the home heavily engulfed in flames.

“I had heard a lot of glass breaking, and I thought somebody was busting somebody’s windows, and then I looked out — explosion and I see fire keep coming out of a house just got taller and taller; it was pretty bad,” a neighbor said.

Fire crews accessed the home through the second floor, finding four victims. The family confirmed the father of the children, Robert Desislets, died as a result of the fire.

Family members also confirmed the three other victims, Arielle Desislets and two children, are brain dead. The family said all three are expected to be removed from life support.

An online fundraiser has been set up to support the family of the victims.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
