Father of Pullman accused of international parental kidnapping remains silent in court

SPOKANE, Wash. – The father of , the man accused of kidnapping his daughter and fleeing to Mexico, stood silent when asked how he pleaded to a pair of charges connected to the alleged kidnapping in court on Friday.

A federal court judge entered a not guilty plea on Jaimes Aung’s behalf to charges of conspiracy to commit international parental kidnapping and international parental kidnapping.

Court documents claim Jaimes Aung assisted his son in avoiding police by using encoded messages to warn and avoid the active investigation.

Aaron Aung previously pleaded not guilty on a charge of international parental kidnapping and was indicted by a jury on Aug. 8.

Jaimes Aung’s detention hearing was stayed until Wednesday. He will remain behind bars until that time.
