Firefighters manage two wildfires in Spokane County

SPOKANE, Wash. – Two wildfires, the and the in Spokane, burned Friday evening. According to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR), forward progress on both fires has been stopped.

The South Columbia Basin Fire stood at about 220 acres Saturday morning, with DNR and Spokane County Fire District #3 working on mopping up areas around homes and other buildings.

Some Level 2 (be set) and Level 3 (go now) evacuation orders for the fire were still advised by Spokane County Emergency Management Saturday morning.

The Upper Cemetery Fire shut down Greenwood Memorial Terrace Saturday due to fire crews still needing space to construct containment lines around the perimeter of the 90 acre fire. Level 2 (be set) evacuation advisories were still in place Saturday morning.
