SPOKANE, Wash. – Firefighters are clearing the scene at the ADM Milling Company building following a fire contained to a machine early this morning.

Spokane firefighters responded to the fire around 3:45 a.m. at the building located on the 2300 block of East Trent.

The fire started when a fan inside a machine caught fire, causing smoke and setting off alarms from the first floor to the building’s seventh floor.

Firefighters were quick to respond to the initial call, which was believed to be a major structure fire.

Officials reported that the fire was contained to the piece of machinery and did not spread further, allowing a swift resolution.

Workers in the building were evacuated for a short time but have since returned inside.
