Flags lowered in Spokane to honor former governor Daniel Evans

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered flags at all city facilities to be lowered to half-staff. This action coincides with Governor Jay Inslee’s directive in remembrance of former Governor Daniel Evans.

Governor Evans passed away on September 20, 2024. A memorial service is scheduled for today at the University of Washington.

Evans, a Republican, served as the governor of Washington from 1965 to 1977. He later became a member of the United States Senate, serving from 1983 to 1989.
