Fleeing suspect crashes into car in Spokane Valley, causing injuries

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -A suspect fleeing from Spokane County deputies ran a red light and crashed into another car in Spokane Valley, resulting in multiple injuries, including one life-threatening.

According to a press release from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office today, July 19, at about 6:10 pm, a Spokane Valley Deputy attempted to stop a car on . Deputies stated the Subaru did not have a license plate and attempted to flee from the deputy.

The SCSO reported that the deputy did not pursue the suspect. The suspect then ran a red light at McDonald Avenue, causing a crash that set the suspect’s car on fire due to the impact.

Deputies mentioned that the suspect’s Subaru, occupied by three people, was traveling eastbound when it ran the red light and collided with a northbound Honda, also occupied by three people, which in turn struck a truck occupied by one person.

The driver of the Honda sustained possible life-threatening injuries, while one adult passenger also sustained possible life-threatening injuries and the second passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. All were transported to the hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the truck received minor injuries and was evaluated by medical responders at the scene.

The two adult passengers in the suspect’s car sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, who was driving the Subaru, was detained and transported by deputies to the hospital for evaluation. Deputies stated he faces several charges of felony vehicular assault and possibly other charges.

The incident remains under active investigation, and no further information is currently available.
