SPOKANE, Wash. – A former Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent from Ellensburg was sentenced to 11 years in jail for attempting to meet a minor for sex.
Koby Don Williams, 49, was recently sentenced to one count of attempted online enticement stemming from an incident in 2022.
According to court documents Williams ‘replied to a decoy Craigslist post as part of an undercover law enforcement operation meant to identify individuals interested in and willing to meet with minors for sex’.
Williams chatted with decoy 13-year-old ‘Rebecca’ who posed as a prostitute. They chatted about his job as a ‘cop’ and he described he would pay her for sexual acts.
In July 2022 Williams planned to meet ‘Rebecca’ at a Quality Inn in Othello where he was met with law enforcement.
Officers searched Williams and his car finding Williams’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement badge, two bottles of generic Viagra and $4,075 in a credit union envelope.
In federal court, Williams testified that he did not believe that ‘Rebecca’ was a minor and he was only there to rescue her.
“Mr. Williams held a duty of trust within the Eastern Washington law enforcement community, and he breached that trust by seeking out what he thought was a child for sex. He then attempted to use his position as a law enforcement officer to explain away his conduct,” said U.S. Attorney Waldref.
Williams was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison to be followed by 15 years of supervised release.
