SHOSHONE COUNTY, Wash. – After a long fight with cancer, the former Shoshone County Sheriff died at 52.
According to a social media post, Mike Gunderson served in law enforcement for 32 years and loved his community almost as much as he loved his family and friends.
Gunderson died on Feb. 7 in the late morning hours surrounded by his friends, family and dogs.
Mike was a truly special person who had a never ending capacity for love.” The Facebook post reads. “He meant so much to so many people and his memory will surely have a lasting impact on the lives of the people who were lucky enough to spend time with him.”
Gunderson was described as a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, law enforcement officer, coach, boss, mentor and so on.
Details of his memorial service will be shared at a later date. His family asks for privacy at this time.
