PULLMAN, Wash. — Seven athletes competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics, representing 6 different nations, attended Washington State University (WSU).
Two WSU athletes are with Team USA: C.J. Allen is competing in Track and Field, and Trinity Rodman is competing in women’s soccer. Both are competing in the Olympics for the first time.
According to WSU, Allen was a two-time second-team All-American and a two-time Pac-12 Champion in the 400 m hurdles when he left WSU in 2017. He currently ranks seventh globally and is the second-highest-ranked American.
Rodman was declared for the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Draft and was selected with the second overall pick by the Washington Spirit in the winter of 2020, making her the youngest player ever to be drafted. She was also named NWSL Rookie of the Year and US Soccer Young Female Player of the Year.
Maribel Caicedo is representing Ecuador in track and field. According to WSU, she holds the school record in the 100m Hurdles and finished second in the NCAA Championship in June. The Ecuador native entered the 2024 Olympics with the 15th-fastest time in the world this season.
Jasneet Nijjar is representing Canada as she competes in track and field. By the time she ended her time at WSU, she held four school records and was a member of one relay school mark. She ran 51.84 in the 400m event at the Canadian Olympic Trials in June, finishing fourth and earning a spot on the 4×200 Relay squad. This is her first Olympics.
Charisma Taylor attended WSU from 2018 to 2021 and now competes in the triple jump and 100m hurdles for her home country, the Bahamas. At the Bahamas Olympic qualifying, she captured the triple jump title and finished second in the 100m Hurdles.
Ieva Adomavičiūtė graduated from WSU in 2017 and was a member of four Cougar teams that reached the NCAA Championships. She also won gold in single sculls at the U-23 World Championships in 2015 and 2016. She won gold in 2018 in the Women’s Double Sculls at the World Championships. She is competing in the women’s pair rowing event at the 2024 Olympics for Lithuania.
Josh Hawkinson is known at WSU as one of the best rebounders in the school’s history. After leaving WSU, he played professionally in Japan, where he has dual citizenship. This is his first Olympic Games.
