SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) has announced that four individuals involved in a violent robbery in downtown Spokane on March 26 have been sentenced.
According to an SPD spokesperson, the following people have been sentenced:
– Rashaud Lightner, 27, was convicted of two counts of first-degree robbery and sentenced to 60 months in prison.
– Chase Wilson, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and one count of third-degree assault. He was sentenced to 51 months.
– Jaeshon Farmer, 18, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and one count of third-degree assault. He was sentenced to 36 months.
– Gerson Orellana, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and one count of third-degree assault. He was also sentenced to 36 months.
Police reported that charges for the remaining three suspects are currently being processed through Juvenile Superior Court.
The arrests followed an incident on March 26 when . Upon arrival, officers spoke with two victims who had been pepper-sprayed while in their car. The male victim reported that a man approached him while he was withdrawing money from an ATM. Feeling uneasy, he returned to his car with the female victim. A group of men then chased them, forcing open the car door as the victim tried to close it.
The victim eventually handed the money to the robbers, who then fled on foot. Later that day, police observed the suspects throwing money and a backpack into the Spokane River. Officers detained them and made additional arrests throughout March and April.
