THRIVE International


THRIVE International provides temporary-refugee housing, education, and empowerment programs, all under one roof. Braided Education


Braided Education, an Indigenous led organization, is creating meaningful outdoor learning experiences that connect students to the land and the importance of environmental stewardship. In direct partnership with the Spokane Tribe, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, and with support from local environmental and state agencies, Braided Education helped facilitate a salmon release at the confluence of Hangman Creek and the Spokane River. Students from Cheney and Mead School Districts participated in the event, releasing salmon fry they had raised in the classroom into the river to help restore a once-native population. Covenant Homes and Resources


Covenant Homes and Resources in Spokane, Washington, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe and supportive housing for pregnant women and mothers. Located at 2012 N Ruby St, they offer a sanctuary where women can find refuge, receive resources, and make informed decisions about their futures. Their mission emphasizes generational transformation through stable housing and compassionate care .


Vets on the Farm


Vets on the Farm is where purpose takes root—turning military service into a new mission on the land. Created by the Spokane Conservation District, this inspiring program helps veterans heal and thrive through hands-on work in farming, ranching, and conservation. From planting seeds to raising livestock, veterans find renewed strength, camaraderie, and direction in the fields. Whether it’s growing fresh produce for local markets or restoring native habitats, each project becomes a way to serve their community again—this time with boots on the ground and hands in the soil. Vets on the Farm doesn’t just teach agriculture—it cultivates hope, healing, and a future as rich as the land they tend.


NE Youth And Family Services


Northeast Youth & Family Services (NEYFS) is more than just a resource center—it’s a lifeline for families in Northeast Spokane. With heart and purpose, NEYFS connects parents and children to essential services like housing support, food access, early childhood education, and mental health resources. Whether it’s delivering diapers to young mothers, helping a family stay warm through the winter, or guiding teens through mentorship and skill-building programs, their work is rooted in compassion and community. NEYFS stands as a powerful advocate for equity and healing, walking alongside families with dignity and care as they build brighter, more stable futures.


Asante Health Medical Practice in Spokane


The Asante Health Medical Practice in Spokane is in the West Central Community Center is where patients go where they want to be heard and be treated. The clinic will be open Monday-Friday 9-5 and to schedule an appointment or ask any questions about the clinic, call their number at (509) 808-2835 or go to their website at asantehealth.org. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County



The Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for children and teens in the Spokane area. Since 2001, the organization has offered a variety of programs that focus on academic success, leadership development, and healthy lifestyles. Today we talk to Wendy Drum about the amazing child care opportunities.


Central Valley School District – SAFE Center


The Central Valley School District SAFE Center or, Student and Family Engagement Center is working to create a community hub that serves the social, emotional, academic, medical, mental health and nutritional needs of students and families in our community. This center serves the needs of it community with a holistic approach. All engagement center services are free and available to all children, youth, parents and families who live in CVSD regardless of social, ethnic or socioeconomic status.


Spokane Workforce Council – Supporting Local Small Business


The Spokane Workforce Council’s small business grants are specifically designed to address the unique challenges faced by BIPOC-owned businesses. By offering financial assistance, mentorship, and networking opportunities, these grants empower BIPOC entrepreneurs to thrive, create jobs, and contribute to Spokane’s economic diversity.

Naomi Community – Support Groups for Women


We spoke with Trena Garrett, Executive Director of Naomi Community. NAOMI is a community where healing happens and lives flourish. They provide a safe haven for mothers, daughters, and children enduring trauma. Watch to find out more on how Naomi journeys with those suffering from trauma to help heal and teach women and their children to love and live well.


West Central Community Center


A long standing pillar of the West Central neighborhood of Spokane, the West Central Community Center is providing childcare, health and nutrition services,  programs for developmentally disabled adults, and recreation activities for youth and adults.


Partners With Families and Children


We discovered Partners with Families and Children while talking with one of our other FOX 28 Game Changers. Partners with Families & Children prevents, interrupts and repairs cycles of abuse and neglect within families. We had a chance to speak to Partners about hope and we heard first hand from one of their clients about the hope that Partners provided to her and her family.


Miss Spokane Scholarship Program


The Miss Spokane Scholarship Program offers young women in our area a chance to grow, providing educational grants and making a positive impact on our community through the inspiring participants. These women often go on to become community leaders. Julia Zimny is a prime example of this success. A recent Gonzaga graduate and the 2024 Miss Spokane, Julia sat down with us to share her journey of growth and how the scholarship program played a crucial role in helping her reach where she is today.
