Free fishing days kick off in Washington and Idaho this June

SPOKANE, Wash. – Get ready to reel in the fun for free because it’s Free Fishing Weekend in Washington (June 8-9) and Free Fishing Day in Idaho (June 8) this weekend!

You do not need a fishing license to fish for certain species on either day.

This event takes place every year on the first weekend after the first Monday in June. Officials remind people that this free fishing rule only applies to lowland lakes.

It’s also a great opportunity to learn how to fish. Idaho Fish and Game personnel will be at multiple free events at local fishing waters. While some loaner rods are available, it’s a good idea to bring your own.

In Washington, you also do not need a Vehicle Access Pass, Discover Pass, or Two-Pole Endorsement.

Remember: all other fish laws & rules still apply
