SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Public Library and Washington State University will host the WSU Spokane Fall Health Fair, offering free flu shots to the first 100 attendees.

According to a press release from the Spokane Public Library, the event will take place at Shadle Park Library on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to free flu shots for the first 100 attendees, the event will feature health screenings, including blood glucose testing and blood pressure checks, as well as information on nutrition, exercise tips, and medication consultations provided by WSU pharmacy students.

“Events like these not only provide vital health services to the community but also align with Spokane Public Library’s mission to create a Community of Learning, where access to information and resources enhances overall well-being,” said Juan Juan Moses, Spokane Public Library community educator.

The press release noted that attendees will have the opportunity to interact with students from WSU’s Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, Speech and Hearing Sciences, and Nutrition and Exercise Physiology programs, gaining insights into medications and personalized health advice. The event will also feature free snacks, engaging activities, and chances to win prizes.

“The WSU Spokane Health Fair offers an excellent opportunity for students training to become healthcare professionals to engage with the community and apply their knowledge in real-world settings,” said Hadyn Fernholz-Hartman, president of the Associated Students of Washington State University Health Sciences (ASWSUHS). “This event not only enhances the health of our community but also strengthens the school’s ties with local residents, and by partnering with the library, we’re able to reach more people and create a welcoming space for health education.”
