MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. — The City of Medical Lake and the West Plains Water Coalition are hosting a free public meeting to provide an update on PFAS contamination in the Medical Lake area.
The meeting will take place on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Medical Lake High School and will feature guest speakers, including Chad Pritchard, a geologist from Eastern Washington University; Albert Tripp, the city manager of Airway Heights; and Sonny Weathers, the city administrator of Medical Lake.
Chad Pritchard’s ongoing groundwater testing for PFAS contamination is expanding, now including lakes, streams, and Medical Lake itself. His Ecology-funded “fate and transport” study is helping to define well water risks for more of the West Plains.
Albert Tripp will summarize Airway Heights’ municipal water plans, which are supported by capital funding from Washington State and an operating subsidy from the Air Force. The Washington Department of Health has confirmed that drinking water in Airway Heights is PFAS-free.
Additionally, an expert on home water filters will be present to provide information on the best filtration options for individual needs.
NonStop is also asking people to this question, “How concerned are you with PFAS “Forever Chemicals” contaminating your water supply?”
