Fugitive arrested after standoff in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.— A man was arrested by Spokane County deputies following a SWAT standoff after it was discovered he had a felony warrant from Idaho.

On Aug. 26, at about 3:40 a.m., Spokane County deputies responded to a possible domestic violence report at a home on East Agusta Court. They arrived to find blood smears and possible stab marks on the front door.

Deputies said that the homeowner told them that her ex-partner had been at the house earlier and caused damage but did not provide further details.

Deputies said they entered the home and said they saw more blood and damage to walls and doors, along with an ammunition box and rounds. Although the homeowner said there were no firearms, deputies found a shotgun in a bedroom. The woman’s two friends, who had arrived shortly before deputies, knew nothing about the incident.

The homeowner’s boyfriend, identified as Danile J. Gadley Jr., had cuts on his hand and forearm but claimed they were from a non-physical argument. He declined medical treatment. Deputies later identified Gadley through a driver’s license, later found a car at the scene, and discovered he had a felony warrant from Idaho.

Deputies said they evacuated everyone from the home and established a perimeter. Despite repeated calls for Gadley to come out, he remained inside. A search warrant was obtained, and a SWAT team, crisis negotiators and other support units were called in.

Deputies said that a drone was used to search the house, locating Gadley asleep in bed. A SWAT team member then breached a window, waking Gadley, who surrendered without resistance.

Deputies said he was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail, awaiting extradition to Idaho.
