SPOKANE, Wash. – Gary Ault, a man found guilty in late March of murdering an 83-year-old man in his Deer Park home, was sentenced to life in prison today.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, Ault will serve a life sentence without the possibility of parole,
Ault was found guilty of killing Richard Purdy in Dec. 2022. He was originally jailed for a string of random assaults downtown and received a murder charge while already in Spokane County Jail.
A knife and pistol were found outside a hotel where Ault was staying. His and Purdy’s DNA were both found on the weapon according to court testimony.
Ault was also found guilty of stealing and unlawfully owning a gun.
