Drivers have been enjoying a significant drop in gas prices recently, with prices decreasing by about 13% since April. This decline translates to nearly 50 cents less per gallon.
According to Triple A, the national average price for a gallon of gas is now $3.20. In 16 states, the average price is even lower, costing less than $3 per gallon.
Experts attribute this decrease to a slowdown in demand following the busy summer travel season. As autumn sets in, the demand for gas typically declines, contributing to the drop in prices.
The trend is expected to continue as gas prices usually decrease throughout the fall. A cheaper winter fuel blend is also expected to play a role in maintaining lower prices.
