Goncalves family responds to Kohberger alibi

MOSCOW, Idaho – The family of a University of Idaho student killed in 2022 has responded to Bryan Kohberger’s official alibi for his whereabouts the night of the killings.

The family of Kaylee Goncalves stated that they are even more convinced of Kohberger’s guilt following the submission of the alibi on Wednesday.

“We feel even more confident in the prosecution of [Kohberger]. The Defense’s claim is that [Kohberger] was driving late at night hiking/running and stargazing. We are not sure why it has taken over a year for this to come out as those don’t seem to be complicated activities,” the family said.

Kohberger’s team states that he was on a drive the night of Nov. 13, 2022 and therefore could not have committed the murders. The defense team says they will offer expert testimony which can show that Kohberger’s cell phone did not travel near the residence where the killings occurred.

The Goncalves family expressed skepticism toward those claims.

“It also in direct conflict with the Probable Cause affidavit that states that the Defendant’s phone was turned off between 2:47am and 4:48am. So if the Defendant was driving around and there is cell phone information that he was in a different place it would be either before or after the times of the murders,” the family said.

A hearing regarding whether the trial will take place in Latah County is currently scheduled for June 27.
