SPOKANE, Wash. — The Gonzaga program, Dance for Parkinson’s, gives Dance students a chance to teach in their field by leading movement classes for people with Parkinson’s.

Gonzaga Dance students can lead classes for people with Parkinson’s and their care partner to help them move around. The class was designed through training from the Brooklyn Parkinson’s Foundation and Mark Morris Dance Groups.

“Dance for Parkinson’s is supported by the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation. We welcome all levels of experience, skill, ability, and mobility. Our trained instructors are supported by student volunteers and accompanied with live piano music. Classes are held on Saturdays during the school year from 11-12:15 at the Gonzaga dance studios at 1110 N Pearl,” said Halle Goodwin, the Assistant Director of Gonzaga Dance.

According to the official Gonzaga University Dance for Parkinson’s webpage, participants participate in chair exercises, across-the-floor movements and ends with a graduate circle.

The class is held on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. People with Parkinson’s, care partners, friends, and visitors are all welcome.
