Governor-Elect Ferguson was joined at the press conference by Attorney General-Elect Nick Brown and said he is already working on helping the office transition to AG Brown.
At the press conference, Ferguson said a second Trump administration could bring “an assault on reproductive rights, healthcare access and environmental productions,” to the Evergreen State.
While Ferguson did not go into the specifics of any legal strategy that the State of Washington might employ during a second Trump Administration, he said the Attorney General’s Office is preparing for many possibilities.
“I hop to God these things we’re talking about never come to pass,” Ferguson said. “But I’m not naive.”
According to Ferguson, his team went line-by-line through Project 2025, the outline of potential policy proposals for Trump’s Presidency.
Ferguson mentioned three main areas of concern over the next four years, including the Trump administration possibly trying to criminalize or restrict birth control, efforts to eliminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and the removal of legal protections for LGBTQ people.
