GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – The Grant County Health District issued an emergency warning Friday for people to avoid ‘Diamond Shruumz’ chocolate bars, cones and gummies.

According to the health district, the products are implicated in a joint Centers for Disease Control and US Food and Drug Administration investigation:

“The FDA is testing Diamond Shruumz products to determine what may be causing the adverse effects, though it is suspected that Muscimol or Ibotenic Acid, a chemical found in mushrooms of the genus Amanita, could be the potential cause of the symptoms in those who became ill. As of July 8, 2024:

58 illnesses have been reported from 27 states.50 of the 58 people have reported seeking medical care.30 people have been hospitalized. One potentially associated death is under investigation.”

The products are now being recalled across the county. If you accidentally eat a Diamond Shruumz product, call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222.
