MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Grant County deputies arrested a man for burglarizing a home in Moses Lake and stealing two rifles.

A homeowner in the Circle Place Northwest area called authorities around 7:20 a.m. on Friday, reporting a suspicious person in her garden. Deputies reviewed footage provided by the homeowner, which showed the suspect, later identified as Tejay Beaty, 39, hiding a rifle case in shrubbery across the street. The deputies recovered the rifle case and the two rifles inside.

While investigating the first burglary, deputies said they received another report at 7:45 a.m. from a homeowner on Conchran Road. This homeowner reported seeing a man matching the description of the previous suspect carrying a rifle case from their house.

Deputies arrested Beaty later that morning on Airway Drive Northeast. Initially, he denied involvement, but changed his story after being shown surveillance video.

Beaty was booked into the Grant County Jail on charges of first-degree burglary, theft of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm. A background check revealed seventeen prior felony convictions, including recent offenses for possession of stolen property, theft, burglary and attempting to elude police.
