SPOKANE, Wash. – The Great Startup Bakeoff will host 50 young entrepreneurs in Spokane as they prepare to sell tasty treats and learn what it takes to run a business.

Over two days, 50 participants ages 14-24 will form 10 groups that will plan, market, and create culinary masterpieces to be sold to the community.

The event is aimed at inspiring and teaching young adults about the business process.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn valuable skills in planning and marketing while expressing their creativity through baking.

The teams will pitch ideas, market their products, build teams and track profits all while growing their understanding of business.

Teams will set up their storefront at the Central Library on Dec. 8 where the community is invited to come purchase their final products.

The market will close at 3 p.m., at which point teams will begin to take down their booths and begin counting sales totals. Their profit will be tallied for each team and calculated with their cost of goods sold which will determine a winner!
