Haunt on Boardwalk offers spooky fun at Nine Mile Falls

NINE MILE FALLS, Wash. – If you’re in the mood for a fright, the Haunt on Boardwalk is welcoming thrill-seekers for its second year as a walk-through experience. Located in Nine Mile Falls, the haunt promises a unique and spooky adventure for visitors.

The Haunt on Boardwalk has an interesting history. It originated during the COVID-19 pandemic under the name Fear in the Headlights. Organizer Mike Toone noted that COVID restrictions in 2020 led to the closure of many haunts, including Scarywood.

After seeing videos of drive-thru haunts that complied with COVID guidelines in other parts of the world, Toone decided to try the concept locally. His drive-thru haunt saw a good turnout and positive feedback.

As other haunts reopened, Fear in the Headlights went on hiatus but made a comeback last year as a walk-through haunt on Boardwalk. The event relies on a team of dedicated volunteers who get involved through Facebook to help create the eerie experience.

“I guess we’re just supervised daycare for teenagers actually on weekends,” said Mike Toone, referring to the volunteers. “But they are awesome kids, they give their heart and their time to it. We appreciate that they are here. They genuinely are up here just because they really enjoy doing it.”

The haunt is open for visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The address is 5978 WA Hwy 291. Visitors are advised to come prepared for a scare and enjoy the hard work put into this spooky attraction.
