HAYDEN, Idaho – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check in Hayden, resulting in Hayden Meadows Elementary placing a safety hold on the school.

On Monday, April 15 afternoon, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a welfare check in Hayden.

Deputies were not able to locate the subject of the welfare check, Hayden Meadows was placed on a safety hold for the afternoon due to its proximity to the welfare check.

Deputies say the welfare check was related to the school and there were no threats made to the school or other individuals in the area.

The Principal of Hayden Meadows Elementary chose to perform a modified release of students at the end of the school day, meaning parents would need to pick up their children directly from the school and no children would be permitted to walk home. Deputies say buses were still running for typical drop-off.

Multiple Sheriff’s Deputies remained in the area of the school during this modified release out of an abundance of caution.
