House burns near Ferris High School after neighbors called 911

SPOKANE, Wash. – A house caught fire Monday morning near Ferris High School causing significant damage after neighbors spotted the flames and called 911.

On Monday morning around 8 a.m. the Spokane Fire Department responded to the 3000 block of East 36th Avenue.

Neighbors notified law enforcement when they saw the house burning.

SFD responded to the backside of the house fully engulfed in flames and reported that no one was home at the time.

Firefighters quickly responded and tackled the flames, but the house had significant damage exposing the interior of the house.

The fire department could not confirm that anyone had been displaced but did notify the homeowner of the fire.

There are no injuries reported from the fire and the cause is under investigation.
