POST FALLS, Idaho – The Kootenai County Fire Department is responding to a house fire leaving 10 residents displaced.

A house fire broke out on the 1900 block of East Sundance Drive in south Post Falls around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday morning.

All 10 residents managed to escape the fire, but the extensive damage to the house and car left it unlivable.

KCFD said they believe the fire started inside the garage and moved into the attic as it was fully engulfed upon arrival.

The Post Falls Police Department, Avista and Coeur d’Alene Fire Department are all responding after a second alarm was called due to heightened regional heat, increasing the risk.

KCFD asked the public to avoid the area as the fire is still active and crews will be working to put out hotspots for the next few hours.

There are no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
