SPOKANE, Wash. – A man walked into his home after work on Monday morning to be greeted by a wall of smoke coming from inside his house.

The Spokane Fire Department responded to the 2500 block of North Wall Street around 5:30 a.m. to find a house filled with smoke and an active fire.

Firefighters say they worked quickly to tackle the fire but heard ‘popping’ sounds from possible ammunition inside the house.

SFD located the source of the flames, which appeared to be a cast iron on the kitchen stove.

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames, and the inside of the house sustained only minor damage.

No one was injured in the incident, and investigators are on the scene looking into the cause.
