BOISE, Idaho – Idaho Governor Brad Little and Montana Governor Greg Gianforte are backing South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem for a significant federal position.
They, along with other Republican governors, have expressed their support for Noem to become the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
In a letter, the governors emphasized Noem’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting borders.
The governors are urging for a quick confirmation of Noem. “We write today to call for swift confirmation of Governor Christine Noem to serve as the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security,” they added. They highlighted her leadership and understanding of national challenges as key qualifications for the role.
Noem, the 33rd governor of South Dakota, made history as the state’s first female governor in 2018. She previously served as a U.S. Representative from 2011 to 2019. Her strong alliance with former President Donald Trump is notable, as he has selected her for the DHS role in his second term.
