Idaho Department of Lands urges residents to join Wildfire Alert System

BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) is urging Idahoans to sign up for wildfire alerts to stay prepared for the upcoming wildfire season.The IDL Wildfire Alerts system notifies residents about wildfires near their communities, covering over 9 million acres of private, state, and federal land protected by IDL. Alerts are delivered via SMS/text messaging or email for fires exceeding 10 acres or threatening structures.“We are committed to providing accurate and timely information to keep people informed about fires in the areas we protect. Our alert system helps individuals make decisions based on reliable information rather than speculation. We encourage everyone to enroll and stay informed during this fire season,” said IDL Director Dustin Miller.Citizens and summer tourists planning to visit Idaho can sign up for IDL’s Wildfire Alerts at www.idl.idaho.gov/alerts.
