COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Idaho Department of Transportation (ITD) announced that the Fourth Street Bridge will be closed Monday night for repairs.

According to ITD, construction will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday and is expected to conclude by midnight. All lanes of the Fourth Street Bridge over I-90 will be closed as crews work to repair joints and perform maintenance on the structure in preparation for winter. Northbound traffic will be detoured on I-90 to 15th Street or East Hattie Avenue, while southbound traffic will be redirected to U.S. Highway 95.

According to ITD, this project is part of a broader initiative to address repairs on several bridges along state highways in the Panhandle. ITD stated that these repairs will not only extend the lifespan of the structures but also enhance highway safety as winter approaches.

The work is expected to be completed by early November, with individual bridge repairs lasting between two to six days before crews move to the next location. Multiple crews will be working simultaneously to expedite the project.

The tentative schedule for upcoming work locations is subject to change due to factors such as weather and material availability, according to ITD. The planned sites include:

– SH-200 over the railroad tracks in Ponderay

– I-90 over the South Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River near Wallace

– I-90 over Copper Street in Mullan

– U.S. 95 over SH-54 in both northbound and southbound lanes

– SH-97 over I-90 near Wolf Lodge

– Seltice Way Bridge over I-90 in Post Falls

– Idaho Road over I-90 in Post Falls
