BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and the Idaho Department of Education are collaborating to launch the inaugural ‘Name a Snowplow’ contest, inviting eighth-grade students across the state to participate.
The contest, which starts on Oct. 1, allows classrooms to submit name entries throughout October, with winners to be announced by 2025.
According to ITD, snowplows from each of Idaho’s six regions will be selected based on votes from ITD employees. The winning names will be displayed on the respective snowplows, and winners will receive a visit from their named plow and driver to discuss winter safety.
ITD said that the contest aims to engage students with a vital safety message, particularly as many will soon enter driver’s education classes.
Further details about contest winners and naming events will be announced after the submission and voting periods conclude. Contest rules can be found here.
