Idaho police stepping up patrols during holidays

IDAHO – As Thanksgiving approaches, the Idaho State Police (ISP) is collaborating with local agencies across the state to increase patrols. The focus will be on impaired driving, aggressive driving, and other traffic violations.

ISP aims to reduce crashes and fatalities during the holiday season. Last year, there were over 300 crashes statewide during Thanksgiving, with many resulting in serious injuries or deaths.

For those planning to travel, ISP suggests several safety measures. They advise driving sober and planning for a sober ride if alcohol is involved. They also emphasize the importance of buckling up, as seatbelts save lives and provide the best defense in a crash.

Additionally, ISP recommends avoiding distractions by putting away phones and focusing on the road. They also suggest preparing for weather conditions by checking forecasts, allowing extra travel time, and keeping an emergency kit in the car.

The increased patrols and safety tips are part of ISP’s efforts to ensure a safer holiday season for all travelers.
