Idaho snowplow naming contest begins in October

BOISE, Idaho – Have you ever wanted to name a snowplow before? The Idaho Department of Transportation is hosting an annual contest to name a snowplow this year!

IDOT will open entries for Idaho students in the eighth grade starting Oct. 1 and will run through the end of the month.

Entries will be opened for one name per 8th grade classroom and teachers are encouraged to help students participate.

Two plows in each Idaho region will be selected to be named and the winning names will be displayed on the plows.

The winning students will also get their school plowed and the plow driver will come speak to their class about winter driving safety tips.

“Our snowplow drivers are very thankful to schools that are able to join this fun educational opportunity and help increase winter driving safety awareness!” ITD Chief Operations Officer and Deputy Director Dan McElhinney said.

Students can submit their plow names here!
