OLYMPIA, Wash. – Incumbent Chris Reykdal leads the Superintendent of Public Instruction race in Washington with 53.8 percent of the vote over David Olson with 46.2 percent of the vote as of 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 5.
The winner will enter a four-year term starting in Jan. 2025.
Reykdal is the current Superintendent of Public Instruction after being elected in 2016. He topped the nonpartisan primary election with 39.3 percent of the vote.
Olson is currently a member of the Peninsula Board of directors representing District 5 and has been since taking office in 2013. He ranked second in the primary election with 31.2 percent of the vote over the next popular candidate, Reid Saaris, who had 24 percent.
