COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — An inmate with an extensive criminal history was accidentally released from the Kootenai County Jail on Tuesday.
A release from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, which runs the jail, said Daniel Billingsley, 46, was serving a sentence when he was brought to Kootenai County to face local charges.
The sheriff’s office said it’s looking into what led up to the mistaken release.
Billingsley has a violent criminal history in Kootenai County dating back over 17 years, according to the sheriff’s office. Those crimes include robbery, fraud and domestic violence.
Billingsley is not considered an imminent threat to the public, according to the sheriff’s office.
Anyone who knows where Billingsley might be is encouraged to call police.
