The lawsuit was filed in Spokane County Superior Court last week. It claims that Inland Power failed to properly install and maintain a light that caused the fire and did not turn off power lines during a red flag weather warning.
Inland Power has previously denied responsibility for the fire, stating in another lawsuit that the fire resulted from an unavoidable accident.
Court documents show that Inland Power even went on to state that a third-party’s negligence as well as the victims “carelessness and negligence” should be at fault.
