Investigation into 9 officers who shot, killed suicidal man concludes

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Independent Investigation Response Team has finished their investigation into the nine officers who were placed on leave after shooting and killing a suicidal man.

The shooting on Jan. 31 occurred near South Stevens and West Cliff Drive when officers responded to a call about a suicidal man known to be armed.

When officers arrived, they found a man waving a gun in the air and directed him to drop it multiple times. After at least two occasions the man pointed his gun at officers.

The man was shot and killed, and the Spokane Police Department placed nine officers on leave as a result to be investigated.

The Spokane Independent Investigation Response team took over the investigation and have finally concluded their research and forwarded the review to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office.

The nine officers that were investigated were named as Officer Michael Brunner, Officer William Braten, Officer Steven Donges, Officer Will Dowsing, Officer Trystan Herzog, Officer Ryan McLucas, Officer Dylan Pavlischak, Officer Andrew Wilson and Corporal Chris Johnson.
