Juneteenth celebration planned at Grant Park in Perry District

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Inland Northwest Juneteenth Coalition will host a Juneteenth Park Celebration in Grant Park.

The festivities, which will take place from 11am to 4pm, will highlight Black-owned businesses and artists.

Food, music and poetry will be available to attendees in addition to youth activities.

Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of 250,000 Black people from slavery in the former confederate state of Texas on June 19, 1865. The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture offers an in-depth exploration of the important holiday online.
