KELLER, Wash. — The Keller Ferry is out of service again due to a mechanical issue that affected the vessel on Monday.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said the ferry, which crosses the Columbia River on Highway 21, is out of service until further notice because of a problem with the vessel’s steering and rudder system.
WSDOT noted the ferry was first taken out of service on Friday due to a similar mechanical issue. After repairs were completed earlier in the day, the ferry returned to service, but operators began experiencing similar problems around 8 p.m. Monday. The vessel is now once again out of service.
Travelers are advised to use alternate routes, including Highway 25 or Highway 155 and Highway 174.
