Ken Hopkins of “Dave, Ken, and Molly announces retirement, passes baton to “Dave and Molly”

Spokane, WA – After more than three decades of supplying the Inland Northwest with heart and humor, beloved radio host Ken Hopkins of “Dave, Ken, and Molly” announced his retirement to Sam Adams on WakeUp NonStop Local KHQ.

Thirty-two years ago, this month, Ken and Dave Sposito launched the Breakfast Boys, entertaining morning radio audiences with their lively banter. In 1998 Molly Allen joined the team and together they transformed “Dave, Ken, and Molly” into a local morning radio staple. The show has been recognized as Inlander’s “Best Local Radio Program or Team” 26 times.

In June, the show was abruptly cancelled, leaving morning radio fans heartbroken. Ken’s announcement has created excitement as he officially passes the baton to Dave and Molly. They’re set to relaunch the program as “Dave and Molly,” broadcasting and podcasting from Cowles’ flagship station, KHQ, by the end of September.

“It’s been more than 30 years since KHQ was in the radio business, but this team transcends format,” remarked Neal Boling, President of KHQ Incorporated. “We put our heads together and devised a way re-connect Dave and Molly with their loyal fans through the digital ‘airwaves.’ Dave and Molly are as local as it gets, and I’m incredibly excited they’re joining our ‘NonStop Local’ team.”

To honor Ken’s important career and mark this new chapter, fans are invited to join Dave, Molly, and Ken at the Fox Theatre on Tuesday, September 17th, from 5 to 7 pm.

“Despite its surprise ending,” Ken noted, “I feel unbelievably fortunate to have gotten to spend my entire radio career in this beautiful city. I will forever hold a great debt of gratitude to Dave, Molly, our listeners, and community for their tremendous support for me & my family after my accident. Because of this, more than anything, I am very excited to retire in the city I love and still be involved in all the things I love. I’m thrilled for Dave & Molly and so happy to have a place for Spokane to hang out again!”

Tuesday’s party will celebrate Ken’s legacy and offer details about Dave and Molly, as their story continues…
