MOSCOW, Idaho – Quadruple murder suspect Bryan Kohberger’s defense team called Moscow Police Department Detective Lawerence Mowery to the witness stand on Thursday.

Kohberger’s attorney asked the detective whether he was involved in collecting the cellphone tower evidence. The detective said he had gone through FBI cellular device training in 2019 and 2023.

Mowery was also questioned about a mid-May report he wrote which included session logs from AT&T, the cell provider of Kohberger’s phone, which he said he received Wednesday from the FBI. He was asked if he’d opened specific files in the report.

Kohberger’s defense went through a slate of files which they say were sent to them on Wednesday and asked whether they had been given full access to all relevant evidence.

“I want to know what you relied on to produce something for the grand jury,” defense attorney Anne Taylor said.

Taylor continued to press Mowery on his data collection practices, including whether he deleted any information over the course of compiling files. He said he did not.

Mowery was also questioned about photos from windy.com, a website which hosts cameras that collect footage throughout Idaho. Taylor asked whether the detective had saved any images from windy, and he said that he did not, but that he had gone back to find the images when asked to by the prosecutor on Wednesday.

The hearing ended without much input from the state and concluded with brief procedural remarks from Judge John Judge.
