BOISE, Idaho – Brian Kohberger is set to return to a Boise courtroom this afternoon for a crucial hearing regarding his legal representation.
This hearing, scheduled for 1:00 p.m., comes after changes to Idaho’s public defense system. Kohberger’s lead attorney, Ann Taylor, previously received payment from the county where the Moscow murders case took place.
However, since the change of venue to Ada County on October 1, public defenders in Idaho are now paid by the state.
The new system means some attorneys are earning less and may choose to leave their cases. Exiting a case requires a judge’s approval.
