Latah County deputies arrest man after high speed pursuit near Troy

TROY, Idaho — A man driving an unregistered dirt bike was arrested by a Latah County deputy after a high speed pursuit along State Highway 8 near Troy.

On Jan. 31 around 9 a.m., a deputy attempted to stop an unregistered dirt bike on State Highway 8 near Troy.

The vehicle was traveling westbound outside city limits and sped away from the deputy’s vehicle at speeds approaching 90 miles per hour. The suspect also began passing vehicles on the highway in no passing zones while eluding the deputy.

The dirt bike got off the highway and drove through a field. The deputy ended their pursuit near the intersection of Schumacker Road and State Highway 8.

A little later that day, the deputy found the dirt bike on Driscoll Ridge Road and was able to safely take Jonathan Owens into custody.

Owens is currently in Latah County Jail and has been charged with felony eluding and possession of stolen property.

POST FALLS, Idaho — Post Falls police were safely able to take multiple suspects in custody that were allegedly involved domestic/family dispute on Wednesday.

On Jan. 31 around 4:30 p.m., Post Falls police were called to a possible domestic/family dispute on Moonstone Street and 12th Avenue in Post Falls.

The caller told dispatchers that they were being attacked by a family member and barricaded himself in a room with a firearm “ready to defend himself.”

Kootenai County Regional Air Support Unit along with Post Falls police officers arrived to the scene. ABLE 1 was able to maintain visual of the suspects and say them exit the home.

They were safely taken into custody by Post Falls police.
