SPOKANE, Wash. — An 85-acre fire prompted a Level 3 (go now!) evacuation for many living near Geiger Heights on Tuesday afternoon.
As of 9:30pm, the evacuation order has been changed to a Level 2 (be ready!) and the fire is now 100% lined.
According to the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR), two helicopters remained at the site to dump water on the fire at about 8:30pm. Crews are expected by DNR to work overnight.
The Grove Fire was reduced to about 75 acres in size as of 8 p.m. with 100 structures threatened. Anyone in the following areas is in immediate danger and need to go now!
Drosett Road to the east.Abbott Lane to the west.Morning Lane to the south.North 57th Avenue to the north.

The Red Cross will open an evacuation meeting point at Shriners Event Center at 6 p.m. and can help with small animals. If you own big animals, there is no set shelter at this time.
Westwood Middle School is outside the evacuation zone, but to access the main parking lot, you must go through Abbot Road, which is in the evacuation zone. NonStop Local reached out to the school for more information. Windsor Elementary School is entirely out of the evacuation zone.
According to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, the fire is 100% lined. Currently, there is no update on containment.
The Grove Fire, which started as a half-acre near 7800 South Grove Road, continues to spread. It is currently estimated at 85 acres.
Northbound lanes of Cheney-Spokane road will be reopened for evacuation traffic.
The Spokane Valley Fire Department has been called to assist battling this fire.
The cause of this fire is unknown and no injuries are reported at this time.
