UPDATED 6/23 at 1 p.m.: Level 2 “Be Set” evacuations have been called out for residents in Carlton due to a wildfire.
CARLTON, Wash. – The Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that fire crews are responding to a fire that started yesterday afternoon and has grown to 50 acres.
According to the DNR, the Gold Creek fire began on June 22 at 4:45 p.m. and has since expanded to 50 acres. The DNR Type-3 Incident Management Team has been mobilized and is en route to assist with managing the fire, which is 3 miles south of Carlton.
Okanogan County Emergency Management reports an active fire near State Route 153 and Gold Creek Loop Road (North End). to exercise caution and remain alert to emergency vehicles traveling through the area.
Officials emphasize the importance of not waiting for door-to-door alerts and taking necessary precautions if necessary. Emergency Management continues to monitor the situation closely.
