Level 3 (Go Now) evacuation orders issued for fire near Tyler

TYLER, Wash. — Level 3 (Go Now) evacuation orders have been issued for a fire burning near Tyler.

The fire, which is reportedly burning in the area of the South Columbia Basin Highway, has prompted Level 3 (Go Now), Level 2 (Be Set) and Level 1 (Be Ready) evacuation orders in the region.

According to the Spokane County Emergency Management team, Spokane Fire District 3 crews are working a wildland fire in the area. Residents living on Columbia Basin Highway between 25610 South Columbia Basin Highway and Pine Spring Road and Carmen Road south of Pine Spring Road.

Red Cross will set up an evacuation shelter at Cheney High School that will open at 3:30pm.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources estimated the fire at 50 acres with several air and ground resources help to stop the blaze.

A Level 1 Evacuation advises residents that danger exists in their area. Residents should monitor local media outlets for information, assemble emergency supplies and belongings in a safe place, plan escape routes, and ensure all household members are aware of the plan.

A Level 2 Evacuation indicates significant danger to the area. Residents should pack emergency items and stay updated on the latest news and information from local media, the fire department, and public safety officials.

A Level 3 Evacuation means the threat to the area is current or imminent, requiring immediate evacuation. Residents must understand that if they ignore this order, emergency services may not be available to assist further. Residents should not delay in leaving to gather belongings or protect property.
