LEWISTON, Idaho – A 23-year-old man led law enforcement on a foot chase Thursday afternoon after being spotted in a stolen car.
Around 1:30 pm, an officer tried to pull over a suspected stolen car when the driver, later identified as Johnathan Ryan, tried to get away, running away on foot near the top of Gun Club Rd.
Several officers responded and tried to find Ryan before a citizen called and reported him walking in the area of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories several hours later.
Ryan tried again to run, but was eventually taken into custody and booked into jail for resisting and obstructing officers, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and possession of the stolen vehicle.
“The Lewiston Police Department would like to thank the Idaho State Police and the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case and remind everyone to lock their vehicles and not store keys in them,” Corporal K. Schneider said.
