KAMIAH, Idaho – A large lightning storm in northern Idaho started 12 fires across the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests on Wednesday.
According to the US Forest Service, the fires have drawn firefighters from four different fire districts, and crews are still looking for additional fires. While no structures are threatened, air quality has decreased throughout the forest system.
Fire danger is still high. Building fires and smoking are both banned throughout the forests with the exception of designated recreation sites. Additional fire restriction information can be found on the Idaho Department of Lands website.
